It's a joke in my household at this point that daddy's smoothies are either 'yummy' or 'yucky.' Henry will walk into the kitchen, see a green concoction swirling in the blender, and ask, is that a 'yucky smoothie, daddy?' 80% of the time, it is. 😂 The good news is that I've honed my craft to make healthy versions that a three-year-old and five-year-old will drink. 🎉 Rest assured, if my boys can enjoy this, you can too! 😉
Without further ado, my go-to greens smoothie will light up your life and your taste buds. I call this the Henry and Hawk Super Greens Smoothie.
Ingredients for two (2) servings.
½ cup frozen pineapple (frozen mango works well too)
½ cup chopped cucumber (I leave the peel on)
½ cup chopped celery
¼ cup parsley
¼ cup chopped fennel
Big handful of organic spinach (add as much as you like)
½ inch of fresh ginger (I go more sometimes to zest it up)
½ inch of fresh turmeric
¼ of medium lemon (peel on)
1 cup unsweetened coconut water (or filtered water)
1 cup of ice
Add all ingredients to a blender (spinach and parsley on the bottom) and blend! You can always dial up the pineapple 🍍 or mango 🥭 to hit the sweetness you desire.
